Where to Splurge in Siesta Key, Fla.

Updated: Apr 30, 2019

Siesta Key was the perfect little get-a-way for a long weekend. We couldn't have asked for a better mini vacation to take us away from the "real world." We keep telling ourselves that one more day would have been ideal, nonetheless, four days was all that we needed for a good dose of Vitamin D and a solid refresh on our mind and body. Lacey planned this trip and decided she wanted to splurge this time on fine dining while in Siesta. Her best idea yet! You definitely want to plan ahead for this, but if you're on the books for a trip to Siesta Key, we'd recommend these fine delights.

- Ophelia's on the Bay -

Our first night in Siesta Key, we decided on Ophelia's. A Casually elegant seafood restaurant with views from floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Sarasota bay & outside, a bayside patio. A romantic atmosphere at night. Be sure to make reservations. Inside and outside seating available.

Lacey's delight:

  • Appetizer - Shared plate of Black Sautéed Mussels - Mussels sautéed in white wine, garlic and lemon.

  • Entree - Breast of Duckling - Twice Rendered Crispy Skin, Blueberry-Cassis Compote, Fingerling Potato and Applewood Bacon Hash

Jacob's Delight:

  • Appetizer - Shared plate of Black Sautéed Mussels - Mussels sautéed in white wine, garlic and lemon

  • Entree - Chimmichurri Steak and Shrimp - Coulotte Steak of Australian Wagyu Beef, Latin Spiced Garlic Butter Tiger Shrimp, Caramelized Onions and Peppers, Avocado Salad, Valentina Aioli, Jasmine Rice

- Clayton's Siesta Grille -

Our second night in Siesta Key, we decided on Clayton's. A short walk from our room made this not only convenient for us, but also made for a great story (ask us how Jacob scathingly saved the night.) An offbeat eatery serving up seafood and other fare, plus drinks in an art-filled space with a outside patio. We recommend making a reservation. Inside and outside seating available.

Lacey's Delight:

Entree - Pan Roasted Diver Scallops - Crispy potato gnocchi, wild mushrooms, leeks wilted spinach, blistered tomatoes, lemon- brown butter sauce

Jacob's Delight:

Entree - 12 Oz. Hanger Steak - Tuscan roasted potatoes, applewood smoked bacon brussels sprouts, baby carrots, Italian salsa verde, cabernet demi glace

- Daiquiri Deck -

Our last, but definitely not least night, we made plans to dine out at an Italian restaurant just outside of Siesta Key but we wanted to make a pit stop on the way to Daiquiri Deck for some drinks. We heard from some locals that this was a must stop. We knew after we decided on our drinks that we were going to be there for a while so we decided to stay for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised. Although Daiquiri Deck is not labeled as fine dining, we absolutely splurged this night. A casual and uplifting joint for seafood and mixed drinks. No need to make reservations. Inside and outside seating available.
