Seven Reasons Why Weekly Date Nights Are a Must
Updated: Jul 2, 2019
For those of you who don't know us personally, we have been dating for almost 7 years, married for 7 months, and have known one another for 13 years. We began our relationship as friends, started dating 6 years after knowing each other and tied the knot in October of last year. Needless to say, we're best friends and wouldn't trade our relationship for the world. Just knowing someone for this long can bring along it's habits and monotony of every day life, so whether it be a night out on the town or just going out to grab a quick bite to eat, we believe in trying to keep the spice in our relationship (pun intended.)
We try to mix it up on where we go for date nights, but we do have our favorites and usually end up deciding on a place we've been countless times before. Don't get me wrong, we're pretty spontaneous when it comes to choosing a restaurant. Sometimes it's a place we've heard of that we want to try and other times we're both craving a certain type of food and end up on a place we've already been that we know we like. Lacey likes to think of it as balance. Life will get the best of us at times, but we still try to make time for a date night out once a week. It doesn't always work out this way, but nevertheless, we try.
7 Reasons why we choose date nights weekly (and why we believe you should too.)
We will usually learn something new about one another, yes, even though we have known each other for 13+ years! It is possible! ;)
We get to try new food or try each other's food. (yes we're that couple)
Have you ever played paper football at a restaurant?!
We get to focus on each other, really listening, and enjoying each other's company.
It gets us away from our regular nightly routine.
Gives us a reason to get dressed up, even if it's not fine dining. (Jacob's favorite part)
No social media! We try to find ways to entertain ourselves or even those around us, which allows for us to meet new people or make new friends while we wait for our meals.
There are no doubt, many reason's why couples should hop aboard the date night train, but to sum it all up, our main reason will always come down to spending one on one, intimate time together. Making time for one another is an essential part of our marriage and we strive to keep it that way.
